Matthew 6:26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
It's an accepted fact in most cultures across the world that the "good life" does not happen without hard work and buckets of sweat. They believe that to achieve success, you first need to have several educational qualifications, followed by professional skills, and these then need to be supported with many years of hard work and some good luck!
But I have great news for you: God has a better way.
We must all work. I am not advocating laziness, and hard work is a Godly trait practiced by all the Apostles, but the world wants you to believe that all success in this life is dependent upon yourself. It preaches success must be earned and it only comes to the deserving. Every generation has been told you must go through a natural process of sowing, reaping and gathering, accompanied by waiting, toiling and stress, before the good life comes. While I agree with the sowing, waiting and, reaping principles of life, the world emphasizes the "toiling and stress" claiming you will only get ahead if you "out-work and outsmart" the next guy!
But thank God we do not have to subject ourselves to the world because we are no longer of this world and its economies - we now belong to the Kingdom of God and His economy.
In the same way, God feeds and provides for the birds, He wants to and will do much more for you! Our Heavenly Father wants us to know the generosity of His heart toward us and how much He wants to make us successful.
Perhaps the most significant thing the Lord is teaching and training me right now is the greatness of His love for me and I don't have to worry, stress or strive by thinking everything is dependent upon me. No, I can rest in God's love and His supply for all my material needs and health in my life!
Today, God wants you to know that you are not of the world's system. You are of the Kingdom of God - the same kingdom that feeds the birds that do not toil but simply trust their Creator for their provisions in life. Be convinced that you are of more value to your Heavenly Father than the birds, and let Him give you the good life without the stressing, striving and competing that belongs to this world.
