Hebrews 10:17 “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”
I remember being at a conference listening to a speaker talking about what happens once you get to heaven. He said that God would replay your entire life, including all your sins on a huge screen for all the angels and other saints to watch! The idea of God making such a video for everyone to watch was a pretty overwhelming thought that made me think – Oh, I’m not sure I like that idea. Who would? The answer is no-one, and fortunately, this is not true because it’s not biblical.
God says here in Hebrews 10:17 that He will remember your sins and lawless deeds no more!
It says in Romans 4:8 “Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin”.
2000 years ago, God imputed the sins of the world, all of them, onto the body of His Son – Jesus. Not only that, Jesus' body was punished for all our sin – He paid the whole price of humanity’s sin, and there was no outstanding debt. That’s why there is nothing you can do to deal with the issue of sin but receive Jesus into your life!
As a Christian, God wants you to know that He remembers your sins no more.
However, a lot of Christians do not think this way. They do when they first receive Christ. But they also subconsciously believe they now have to start living a “perfect, faultless, sinless” life for them to remain forgiven! Why do we think this way – that a “sinner” can be wonderfully and graciously forgiven, yet we don't continue to think this same way toward a “believer - a child of God”?
The truth is grace covers all of your sin – the sins you committed before becoming a Christian and even sins committed after becoming a Christian.
Once you become a Christian, it is now time to start thinking another way, that you are now the righteousness of God in Christ. Even if you continue to fall or miss the mark in certain areas of your life, don’t become sin conscious – remain Christ conscious! And you will see a powerful metamorphosis (transformation) occurring where the power of God’s Word and the Holy Spirit transform you into a Christlike person. That’s when day by day you begin to change – your attitudes become Christlike; your thinking and actions become Christlike because you are now Christ conscious!
It will not happen overnight, but as you continue to look to Jesus and meditate upon God’s Word and seek after the presence of God – transformation will occur!
God’s Word is living and powerful and as you look upon it, read it and meditate upon it and receive it into your life every day and every week at church – the Holy Spirit takes hold of that Word and transforms you with it!
God says He will remember your sins no more. So why do you remember them? Or for that matter anybody else’s sins like your kids; your spouse; your neighbors? God does not want you to be conscious of sin because He is not. He is conscious of what His Son has done to wash away all yours sins. This is who you should be conscious of – who you are in Christ!
