GOD YOUR DEFENDER

Psalm 94:22 But the Lord has been my defense, and my God the rock

When it comes to the Help of the Lord it is important to understand the Lord’s heart toward you.

God’s Word tells us that if God is for us, who can be against us! (Romans 8:31)

I love this verse so much – “If God is for you who can be against you”? The answer is no one. How dare they! How silly for anyone to come against you as a child of God. The problem for those who do come against you is that God is invisible – and what they cannot see, they do not think twice about… and then they do something foolish – they pick a fight with you, but they don’t realize who they are really picking a fight with!

Here in Psalm 94, God reveals that He is your Defender. He is your Advocate and Judge and will protect you against the accusations of your enemy. The Lord even teases your enemies like Clint Eastwood did in his movies - “Go ahead, make my day!”

In Joel 3:9-10 God says:

Prepare for war! Wake up the mighty men, let them all draw near, let them come up… let the weak say “I am strong”!

God, like a heavyweight boxer, is saying to His enemies here in Joel, “come on, have a go… bring it on… allow your very best, your mighty men, those who are strong to come against me! It doesn't matter who they are or how many, I’ll deal with all of them.”

That’s exactly what God did with Pharaoh for Moses; with Goliath for David; with the Midianites for Gideon and with the Moabites, Ammonites and Meunites who came against King Jehoshaphat!

And this is the heart of the Lord toward you.

Today, Jesus is your defense. He is the strong tower that you can run into. He defends you day and night against the accusations of your spiritual enemy. (Revelation 12:10)

When you try to defend yourself, you only have two hands and your own human resources. But when you allow Jesus to become your defense, He defends you with His nail-pierced hands and all the resources of heaven!

When people accuse you, attack you and even come against you, allow Jesus to be your defense. Start declaring “the Lord is my defense and the rock of my refuge”. Declare that Jesus is your defender and He will deal with all your enemies.

Psalm 108:13 says, Through God, you shall do valiantly for it is God who will tread down all your enemies.

Don’t try to defend yourself by going out of your way to get back at others, instead allow the Lord to do your defending.
