Philippians 4:19 (MSG) You can be sure that God will take care of everything you need, his generosity exceeding even yours in the glory that pours from Jesus.

Generosity is the key that activates this incredible promise of God above, that He will take care of everything you need.

It says ‘His generosity’ exceeding even your generosity! This is God’s nature; He wants to unleash all His blessing and goodness upon you! When God blesses you, He is pouring everything that He has bestowed upon His Son Christ Jesus, also upon you.

Now, this promise says God will take care of your every need – physical, financial, spiritual, relational, emotional, etc. I know it seems hard to believe that, but believe it because that’s exactly what it is saying, even in the Greek. That word “everything” is the Greek word “pas.”  It means anything, everything, anytime, every time. So it's not just talking about financial needs or spiritual needs, it is talking about ALL of your needs, ANY kind of need.

So many of our needs are intangible and include inner needs such as joy, peace, fulfillment, and purpose in life. These are included in this promise of God and generosity is a major key to all these. If you want to be happy in this life, learn the Christ-like habit of generosity.

Proverbs 11:17 says “The kind and generous man benefits himself…”

God has designed life so that what you give, you get back. What you sow you reap. What you plant is what you harvest. The attitude of the world is taking and getting, but it's the complete opposite in the Kingdom of God – it’s giving, sowing, and planting which all describe a generous heart.

Do you need more energy? Well, don’t sit around, resting on the couch or sleeping more, that only makes you more sluggish. You need to start exercising regularly – that's what will produce more energy.

When you give out praise and encouragement, you reap praise and encouragement and many friends. When you gossip and criticize you will become a very lonely person.

Do you need more time and wisdom? Well give the very beginning of every day to God in prayer and receiving from His Word. That not only positions you to receive His wisdom for the day, but it will increase your productivity, and you will find there is so much more time for other things.

This generous spirit that gives, sows and plants is how to live life well, but it also reaps a harvest of happiness.  You enjoy peace, fulfillment, and satisfaction in life.
