VICTORY IN CHRIST

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles (strategies) of the devil.

Here in Ephesians 6:11 God is not asking you to stand and defeat the enemy, and that’s because Jesus has already done that – Christ is your victory!

Colossians 2:15 says, And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Romans 8:37 says No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

The Kingdom Principle is this: “We fight from the victory (Christ obtained for us), not for victory”

As Christians, the way we walk in this victory is by just standing in the armour of Christ. This is the message Paul is saying in Ephesians 6:10-14:

  • v11 put on the full armor so you can take your stand…

  • v13 so put on the full armor so you may be able to stand…

“Put on” in the Greek actually means “to carry, to be conscious of the armour you now possess”.

Paul does not request you to “stand” against the devil in your own strength, through your physical, intellectual, or worldly resources. No, every time he commands you “to stand”, it is in the armor of Christ.

This armor is a visual picture of who you are and what you possess through Christ:

  • He is your “belt of truth” which is the gospel of grace (John 1:17)

  • He is your “breastplate of righteousness” which is gifted to you (Romans 5:17)

  • He is your “shield of faith” protecting you through every trial (James 1:2-3)

  • He is your “helmet of salvation” protecting your mind in every battle (2 Corinthians10:4)

  • He is your “gospel of peace” and His grace flows through inner rest (Romans14:17)

Jesus has already blessed you with every spiritual blessing (Ephesians 1:3) and when you understand all these things about Jesus and what He has done for you, that is what gives you victory over the devil. You don’t need to do anything but just stand!

So when the devil tries to attack your faith, your righteousness, your peace, your blessing - just declare back to him: “I am not trying to be blessed, I am already blessed; I am not trying to be righteous, I am already righteous; I am not trying to be a man or woman of faith; I am already a man or woman of faith in Christ Jesus!

When you understand what Christ has purchased for you on the cross, that’s how you stand victorious!
