BLESSED WITH EVERY BLESSING

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,

Some people think that the term “spiritual blessing” refers to only invisible and intangible blessings like peace and joy or when we are someday in heaven. To them, God’s promise of “every spiritual blessing” excludes the earthly blessings of health, provision, a healthy marriage and so on.

But do you know what the word “spiritual” here means?

In the original Greek text, it is “pneumatikos”. It sounds like something from the Lion King movie, but it means ‘having properties and characteristics belonging to the Spirit of God’. So if you have the pneumatikos blessing of health, for example, it means that it is of the Spirit of God, and therefore does not depend on you, but flows from God.

I read a story about a man with high blood pressure that did not normalize even after he started exercising and eating well. So even though he exercised and ate well, he stopped looking at these as his source of well-being and simply rested in the truth that normal blood pressure was a pneumatikos blessing from God. In a short time, his blood pressure came down to a healthy level. Amazing! God is saying your health and well-being is not dependent on you, but on Him.

The same goes for the pneumatikos blessing of provision. It is of the Spirit of God and is not dependent on what we must or must not do.

This does not mean that you can be reckless with your body or lazy with your work. But what the scriptures are revealing to you is where you are placing your dependency – upon what you do or what God can do?

Become the person who believes that you have received every pneumatikos blessing, and you will find yourself enjoying blessings that are not only eternal, but are right here, right now in this life!
