GRACE WORKS OUT OF REST

2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses so that the power of Christ can work through me.”

Paul is revealing what I think is the greatest secret in the Kingdom of God. The greatest secret that God revealed to Paul, who reveals it to you, is that “Grace is all you need”.

Why is that? It’s because God’s grace is the power of God for everything in the life of a Believer

First of all, it’s what enables you to be saved (Ephesians 2:8), it’s because of God’s grace that you are forgiven and receive the gift of Christ’s righteousness (Romans 5:17).

Secondly, it’s by the grace of God that you have been endowed with unique talents and abilities (Ephesians 2:10; James 1:17), and are provided with opportunities that are sent to prosper you in life! (Deuteronomy 8:18).

But third, grace is the power of God that goes to work in you, through you and for you. (Philippians 2:13)

And then Paul reveals the secret that activates all this power of God’s grace in your life – it’s your ‘weakness’. That means ‘your inability to produce the result and accomplish something’ – whether it's having children, finding a marriage partner, getting a job, being able to raise those children, remaining married or being successful in that job!

When you think you can do something and it is you or your ability, this actually reduces the power of God’s grace. But as soon as you recognize your need for God, where you say “I am totally dependent upon you” – the power of God’s grace goes to work in your life.

This is why Paul says “I am so glad I have weaknesses”, that means the power of God can go to work.

Whenever you are failing at something – school, work, connect group, ministry, church, marriage, raising children, having children, finding a lifetime partner… and you are overwhelmed, that’s the perfect condition to see God miraculously turn your situation around. Just call upon His grace – cry out to Him … and every time you do, the power of Christ goes to work in your life!
