PRAY – AND MEDITATE

Psalm 1:2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law, he meditates day and night.

Prayer and Bible meditation go hand in hand.

Praying and seeking the Lord is like you are grinding an ax on the grinding block – grinding over and over, repeating the same motions over and over, but that ax is becoming sharp – very sharp. Likewise in prayer, you are repeating the same actions over and over, day after day but your heart is becoming hot – very hot.

It is the same as meditating the Word. You are going over and over the same scripture repeating the same words, same lines, over and over, but the light is becoming bright – very bright.

Revelation and understanding flow out of this light of the Word.

There is nothing so powerful and transformational in your life than when the light of God’s Word brings revelation to your eyes and mind. You see what you never saw before. You understand what you never understood before.

Before, you were subject to your flesh and the cynical arguments of your flesh. But once the light of revelation comes, all these arguments of the flesh fade away.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought and bring it to the obedience of Christ.

This scripture powerfully illustrates this union between prayer and meditation.

  • It says “the weapons we fight with”… the Word of God is a powerful weapon, and when it is proclaimed through your lips in prayer, that power goes to work!

  • It says “we demolish arguments that set themselves up against the knowledge of God”. Praying the Word will demolish every demonic stronghold of the mind. Condemnation is demolished. Fear is demolished. Doubt and discouragement are demolished.

  • It says we take every thought captive and bring it to the obedient of Christ. Your highest prayers will always be the declaration of Christ death and resurrection. His blood purchased your salvation and His resurrection declares His righteousness is your gift!

Praying Scripture and declaring it over and over is spiritual warfare. It demolishes all the plans of the enemy towards you!

When you don’t know exactly what to pray for (and this will happen regularly), pray in your heavenly language (Romans 8:26). I oscillate between my heavenly language and praying Scripture regularly. It’s powerful because the Holy Spirit prays perfect prayers through you and He prays in accordance with God’s Will!
