REIGNING IN LIFE

Luke 22:40 "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."

Jesus never said that temptation will not come your way. Many Christians feel that when they experience seasons of temptation, it means there must be something wrong! But what Jesus instructs us to do is to “pray”, so that when temptation does come, you know how to respond to it.

Prayer is the power source that enables you to deal with temptation. If you do not have a habit of regular daily prayer, you will find yourself struggling and giving in to temptation. But when you regularly pray, especially in your heavenly language, you will find yourself not becoming attracted to temptation (the way you did without a prayer life).

1 Corinthians 10:13: No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

The Bible says God does two things for us:

1. He will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we are able to endure.
2. He will provide for us a way of escape to overcome the temptation. And a powerful “way of escape” comes through prayer.

If you don’t prioritize prayer, you will not experience this “way of escape”. Many Christians want God to wave a magic wand and remove all their problems. But it's through praying in the Holy Spirit that the Holy Spirit can also “take hold” of those things with you!

Romans 8:26: In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.

The word “help” in Greek is – “Synantilambanomai” which means “to take hold of together against”…

It means you and the Holy Spirit are taking hold of something “together”… That’s how God takes hold of those things from your life - it's as you pray in the Holy Spirit!

James 1:12: Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him

The crown of life is for reigning in life. That’s where you step onto a whole new level in your walk with God. That’s when you can truly start fulfilling that great high calling the Lord has for your life.

There’s nothing bigger in life and when you reign in life, it doesn’t rule over you!
