THE BELOVED SLAY GIANTS!

1 Samuel 17:45-46 David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands

Most people have heard of the story of the young shepherd boy slaying the giant Goliath.

Let me reveal something you may not have read or heard about this epic battle between David and Goliath. It’s the meanings of their names.

Goliath, in Hebrew, comes from the root word ‘Gala’ meaning “to remove or go into exile”. When you are removed into exile, you are stripped of everything you are and own. Goliath is a picture of what Jesus did to the devil - He stripped him of all his power over us at the cross.

David, in Hebrew, means “beloved” and he is a picture of God’s beloved – Jesus.

Can you see what God is revealing to you through the story of David and Goliath? Not only does it prophetically point to Jesus’ great victory over the devil on the cross for you, but it reveals that it takes someone who knows they are “the beloved”, i.e. loved by God to slay giants!

When you know you are the beloved, loved by God, you will slay giants!

It doesn’t matter what kind of giant you are facing today, whether it's a financial or health giant, a marital or addiction giant, when you see yourself as the beloved, you will see your giants being slain before you.

After Jesus was baptized in the Jordan River God spoke and said this about Him:

“This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Matthew 3:17)

These words of the Father carried Jesus all the way to victory over the cross and the devil. Your Heavenly Father speaks these same words over you when you receive His Son. They will carry you through every battle in life!

In 1 John 4:18 it reveals God’s love toward you is a perfect love.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

There is no fear in love because God is not judging you, He does not condemn you and He does not punish you, He only loves you.

Some people think God is happy with them when they are good, but He is unhappy when they are not so good. But this is not true. Why? It’s because Jesus was judged, condemned and punished upon the cross in your place, so regardless of what you do or don’t do, you are always the beloved of God because you are righteous through the blood of Jesus!

Today, dwell upon the truth that you are God’s beloved and allow His perfect love to slay every giant in your life.
