THE POWER OF THE LORD'S BODY

1 Corinthians 11:24 … and when He had given thanks, He broke it (the bread) and said, “take eat, this is my body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of me”.

Probably one of the greatest revelations I have received over the last few years is the power of the Lord’s Body powerfully taught by Pastor Joseph Prince.

When you partake of Holy Communion, the bread that you hold in your hands speaks of the Body of the Lord when He bore our sins and sicknesses on the cross.

Like the bread, which is torn and broken, Jesus' body was torn and broken upon that cross.

He was beaten and flogged. Psalm 129:3 gives the most graphic picture: “The plowers plowed on my back; they made their furrows long”. Psalm 22:17 says “I can count all my bones. They look and stare at me”. As Jesus hung on the cross his body was bruised and broken and then the soldiers pierced a sword into his side. Isaiah 53:5 says “He was pierced for our transgressions…”

Jesus went through all this so that you could be set free from the power of sin and sickness that has corrupted humanity.

Recently, I had an infected throat and I was progressively losing my voice as I was approaching Sunday. My concern was I would not be able to preach at church. On Thursday I began taking Holy Communion morning and night, in the same way a person might take medicine.

I wasn’t putting my faith in that little cracker or the grape juice – I was putting my faith in the fact that Jesus said, “Take, eat; this is my body which is broken for you…”.

By faith, that ‘cracker’ represents the broken body of Jesus and I am ingesting His health and wholeness into my body. I am receiving the power of His broken body upon that cross. And by faith, I act as though I have received my healing. That Sunday I was told that nobody even noticed that my throat was nor my voice affected. Amen!

My prayer is that you will receive the same revelation that I have received about the power of the Lord’s Body. Don’t just remember that Christ went to the cross for your sins, but that His body was bruised and broken for your sickness!

When you partake of the bread and the cup, pray the following prayer:

“Thank you, Jesus, for your broken body. It is for my healing and my family's healing. Thank you that by Jesus' stripes, by the beatings that You bore, I and my family are now totally healed. I believe and I receive”. (Eat the bread)

“Thank you, Jesus, for the New Covenant you cut in your Blood. Your blood brought me forgiveness and has washed away all my sin forever. Your blood makes me righteous. As I drink this cup I thank you for the inheritance of righteousness, healing, wholeness, and protection in Christ”. (Drink the cup).
